Chinese youth may imitate their American counterparts but many also nurse deep grudges against the nation their government still occasionally accuses of 'hegemony'.  Two years ago many celebrated the WTC and Pentagon were hit.  Looking back on that day many Chinese say the US only got what it deserved. The best laid plans of mice and men....China's attempts to double its pool of skilled manpower have backfired.  A focus on building universities has seen funding to schools fall, affecting millions, especially in rural areas.  But even as college enrollments have doubled, the job market has been unable to absorb the glut in new graduates. Buddhism is only the most famous Indian export to China.  For centuries both nations lived as easy neighbors until the 1962 border war changed that.

In March 2004 the Communist Party granted Chinese property rights.  But the destruction by developers of China's heritage and homes continues. Most historic city hutongs, or courtyard houses, are being leveled to make way for Hong Kong-style skyscrapers, and despite the new law most people are powerless to stop this.
